The Earth is a Sphere

Isaiah 40:22 (written between 700-800 B.C.)

There are people who would accuse Bible believing Christians of believing in a "flat earth", but this obviously would not be the case. ;) This idea that the earth might be a sphere was suggested as early as 540 B.C by Greek philosophers, but the commonly held belief was that the earth was flat. This was the case until the compass was invented and the travels of Columbus and Magellan in the 15th century.

Air has Weight

Job 28:25 (written 2,000 BC)

This was discovered by Galileo in the 17th century.

Hydrological Cycle

Ecclesiastes 1:7; Jeremiah 51:16; Job 36:27-28 (Job was written 2,000 BC)

This was not discovered until the 17th century.

The Earth is Suspended in Space

Job 26:7 (written 2,000 BC)

At the time this was written, one of the most advanced scientific theories was that the world was sitting on the back of a "giant turtle", or on the back of "Atlas". It wasn't until 1687 A.D. when the idea that the earth was actually suspended in space was introduced to Science through the writings of Sir Issac Newton (a Creation Scientist).

The Stars are Innumerable

Around 150 A.D, a famous astronomer named Ptolemy declared insistently that there were exactly 1056 stars total. In July 2003 it was announced, after a study called the "Two-Degree Field Galaxy Redshift Survey", that there are approximately 70 sextillion (70,000,000,000,000,000,000,000) "observable" stars.
